When you decide it’s time to buy a new straight razor do you shop around? I hope the answer is yes. There are many websites that sell straight razors and all cost differently. Some sites sell straight razors from other brands along with their flagship razor. Then there are the websites that just sell their flagship razors. I’m still a Newby with only a year in and still inexperienced I have accumulated several straight razors. With a small assortment of straight razors I get to choose a different razor every night. I’ve searched many online stores and have looked at razors for hours and have read a lot of reviews as well. In my opinion I don’t feel as though you have to spend a lot of money on a straight razor to get a good shave. I’m assuming the same rules apply as the rules with a safety razor, It’s all in your technique and how well you maintain your razor. I will also say that there is not one perfect razor for everyone since everyone is different including the hair on their head and face. There are several different options when choosing the correct straight razor and researching these options should be a priority before you buy to know exactly what you are buying. I have been very fortunate to receive some good advice from a couple of guys with a lot of experience when it comes to cut throat shaving. Their mentoring has helped me with the learning curve everyone faces when starting off with a straight razor. I recently had the opportunity to review the Solomon Straight Razor from Nakedarmorazors.Com their site sells their self branded straight razors and other shaving equipment.

The Solomon straight razor comes in its own sturdy cardboard box with the Naked Armor brand stamped right on top. The inside tray that houses the razor slides out of the box effortlessly. The razor rests inside a soft leather case that protects your razor while you travel or for just sitting around the house. The Solomon Straight Razors total length is 15.7cm with a blade length of 7.5cm, 13/16. The handle is made from algum wood wich is a wood with biblical proportions. In the Book of First Kings algum along with cedar and pine were used in the construction of Solomon’s temple. The handle of the Solomon straight razor is heavy weighted and well-balanced topped and bottomed with 115-grain two-sided gold copper heads helping distribute the weight of the razor. The blade of the razor is 65 HRC Japanese steel. This blade is hard but provides a smooth shave with precision around all those hard to reach areas without irritation. The Solomon is a mix between half and full hollow ground. Half hollow ground allows more forgiveness compared to a full hollow ground. The full hollow ground has a sharper edge and requires a lighter hand.

The first thing I did before using my new straight razor is strop it. The Solomon comes shave ready right out of the box so you don’t really have to strop it right away if you don’t want to. I do it just for good measure and it sets the tone for general maintenance. I stroped the blade 50 times with the nylon strap and then 70 times with the leather strap. The sharp end of the blade felt sharp and crisp. The handle of the Solomon was noticeably heavy but very easy to manage. The weight of the razor along with the sharp and crisp edge of the blade provided a smooth shave from start to finish in two passes. There was no irritation during and after each shave. I really enjoyed using the Solomon. It feels like a solid razor and I’m sure it’s one that I will pass on to my son when it’s his time to shave. The Solomon straight razor from Nakedarmorazors.Com is approved by TheBaldNation for our Bald Nation and all those in between. Love your products and you will love the results. Thank you and have a #Baldtastic day.
