Sweet Comb Chicago

A shave that couldn’t get any more sweeter!

Let’s talk about bees for a minute. Bees are an important part to our environment and agriculture. First lets talk about what bees do. Bees pollinate plants and flowers. Sounds pretty simple right? Bees help produce somewhere around 19 billion dollars of agricultural crops each year. Without the pollination from bees agricultural crops such as broccoli, asparagus, cantaloupes, cucumbers, pumpkins, blueberries, watermelons, almonds, apples, cranberries, and cherries would not be possible. Bees wax is actually made by the bees themselves. The wax forms scales on their bodies and the scales are discarded inside the hive and used to make honey combs.

SweetCombChicago.Com was established in a Chicago backyard located in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Sweet Comb Chicago’s promise to you is first and foremost a top-notch product that’s raw and unpasteurized. Since Sweet Comb Chicago’s apiary stays in Chicago the bees stay in Chicago as well. The color, aroma and flavor of a bees honey greatly depends on were the bees are located and the nectar source. Chicago has a wide range of flowers from common Midwest prairie flowers to the imported exotic flowers that gardeners loving plant. This wide range of flowers gives the bees honey a rich flavor. Honey can also vary in color from clear to molasses to the amber color we all have come to love. This color variation depends on the time of year the honey is harvested. Sweet Comb Chicago harvests every late summer to ensure the beautiful pale color honey with a fantastic taste every time. Yep! Sweet Comb Chicago definitely loves their bees and the honey they harvest. Not only do they sell fantastic honey but they also make great shaving products that contain bees wax. I guess you could say that Sweet Comb Chicago is the bee’s knees of Chicago and you would think that as well if you tried their products for your self.

I found Sweet Comb Chicago on Instagram by accident. I followed a #Beeswax hashtag and one of the posts was the products from SweetCombChicago.com I had done some previous research on the benefits of beeswax for your skin so when I saw their products I contacted them right away. The fine folks over at Sweet Comb Chicago have a great sense of hospitality and create a warm friendly environment with conversation. Before I knew it my pre and post prep shave products of the Sweet Comb Chicago Essential Beard Oil and Bee Bald Head Polish soon arrived on my doorstep ready to be used with my daily shave routine.

The Essential Beard Oil came in a small brown glass bottle. The brown tinted glass keeps the consistency of the oil from changing due to prolong exposure to direct sunlight. At the top of the bottle lies a screw on/off pump style with spray cap. The thin consistent oil comes out in a nice spray. Three to four pumps is all I needed for a generous coat of oil to cover my Dome and face. The oil felt light weight and had a pleasant aroma. The thin oil left my skin glistening with a soft and supple feel. I waited a few minutes for the oil to soak into my skin before I applied my shaving cream for my nightly shave. If you have used more than one kind of shave oil in your day then you know that all shave oils are not the same. Some shave oils are to greasy and some are not greasy enough. Some oils give you more glide while others seem not enough glide. The Essential Beard Oil from Sweet Comb Chicago had all the right elements for a perfect shave oil.

I also received along with the glass bottle of Essential Beard Oil a tin of Sweet Comb Chicago Bee Bald Head Polish made with pure natural beeswax to add to my post prep shave routine. The Bee Bald Head Polish comes in a golden amber color balm that’s hard in consistency. A little goes a long way with this balm, so with a little added pressure, I swiped my finger across the surface retrieving a small portion to use. I’ve been using balm off and on for about a year now and I’ve grown to appreciate it. It’s easy to store and a small tin of balm will last a long time because it only takes a little bit to get the job done. Once I built up a small portion of the Bee Bald Head Polish  on the tip of my finger I put it in the palm of my hand to warm it up from my body heat. The once small solid balm turned soft it was easy to spread across the skin of my Dome and face. The Bee Bald Head Polish felt soft and smooth on my skin and left no greasy residue. The more I gently rubbed the softened balm into my skin the warmer it got leaving my skin with a soft and supple feel. I waited a few minutes until the balm completely soaked into my skin and then added a few drops of water to my skin and took a clean hand towel and buffed my Dome and face. The end result was fantastic, my skin was extra soft and smooth! If you have not tried the Bee Bald Head Polish from SweetCombChicago.Com I suggest you do, you’re going to love it!
