Salt and Sun Beard Company

Great beard oil and balm for great skin care!

When it comes to deciding which beard or shave oil to include in your daily shave routine the possibilities are endless. There are literally thousands of choices to choose from. A shave oil basically just needs to be a non toxic non irritating oil that provides your razor a smoother surface for shaving. Beard oil provides your razor with a smooth surface for shaving and so much more. Beard oil is also designed to soften the whiskers of ones beard for a more comfortable shave. Beard oil is also a great skin care product containing a number of natural ingredients that rejuvenates and refreshens the skin.  Beard oil usually has more of a thickened consistency caused by some of the ingredients used to make the oil such as Castor Oil, Glycerin, Vitamin E Oil and Avocado Oil. These are just a few ingredients that you might find in a lot of different beard oils. I’ve also started to use beard balm as a moisturizer as well. Beard balm is very hard in consistency and has a lot of the same skin care properties as beard oil does. The more beard products I use the more I like them for what they do and how they make my skin feel after I use them.

Salt and Sun Beard Company is a family owned business based out of Florida. They are dedicated to providing a quality product made from therapeutic  grade oils. I had the chance to review their full line of beard oils and balms and I jumped at the chance to try them. No matter whether you sport a beard or are clean shaved, the Salt and Sun Beard Company products have a lot of quality benefits for your skin.

I received in the mail courtesy of Salt and Sun Beard Company four kinds of Beard Oil and the matching Beard Balm as well. The BlackBeard, East Coast, Caribbean Crusader and The Pipeline beard Oil and the Beard Balms all have different aromas and ingredients. The BlackBeard contains Almond and Avocado oils, Tobacco, Peppermint, and Cedar Wood. The matching Balm also contains the same therapeutic oils. The East Cost Beard Oil contains Avocado, Coconut, Almond, Black Pepper, Peppermint, Lemongrass and just like BlackBeard the matching Beard Balm contains the same oils. The Caribbean Crusader contains Almond and Avocado oil, Peppermint, Eucalyptus and sweet Orange. The Balm follows suite and contains the same ingredients as the oil does. Last but not least The Pipeline Beard Oil. This oil is their signature scent and were it all began. This oil consist of Coconut, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, and Sandalwood oils with the Balm containing the same oils as well. Even though the Beard Balms contain the same ingredients as the oils do they are still different. All balms are also made with BeesWax, Cocoa and Shea Butter to give you that extra moisturization your skin needs after every shave.

The beard oils contain oils that have a lot of great skin care benefits. Avocado, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Cedar Wood, Tobacco, Coconut, Almond, Peppermint, Lemongrass and  Sandalwood are some of the natural oils that Help to generate collagen helping the skin stay firm, smooth and rejuvenated,  moisturizes helping to sooth and heal dry, cracked skin, helps to treat certain skin disorders such as Psoriasis and eczema, helps to speed up the healing process of burns and wounds while relieving bites and stings from insects, Helps to tighten, tone and cleanse the skin fighting off bacteria and infection.

The beard balm from Salt and Sun Beard Company contains these oils as well. All of their balm contains Bees Wax, Cocoa and Shea Butter. Bees Wax, Cocoa and Shea Butter also have many skin care benefits such as, forms a protective barrier for the skin that helps protect it from the elements as well as infection and harmful bacteria and won’t clog the pores of your skin. Has antibacterial properties helping to heal wounds reducing the risks of contamination. Attracts water molecules keeping your skin soft and supple. A good source of vitamins supporting cell rejuvenation. moisturizes dry and cracked skin fighting dermatitis and eczema. As you can see the combined benefits of both the Beard Oil and Beard Balm from Salt and Sun Beard Company far out weight the reasons why you should not use their products. The aroma of each Beard Balm slightly resembles its Oil counterpart but overall does not have a very strong fragrance and I’m ok with that. I don’t feel as though a product has to have an aroma for me to want to use it more. Functionality and what outcome the product produces for my skin is what keeps me coming back for more. Healthy skin is happy skin and the Beard products from Salt and Sun will definitely make your skin happy, smooth and supple. A great combination for skin care.

The Beard Oils and Balms all performed in the same manner. The only difference between the oils and balms was the aroma. All four Beard Oils had the same medium thick consistency and came in a 1 fl oz glass vile with a dropper style lid that screwed on/off. 5-6 drops of oil was all I needed to apply a thick coat of oil to my Dome and face. The oil provided an extra smooth surface for my razor to glide across my skin. The beard oil from Salt and Sun Beard Company created a more comfortable cushion between my skin and razor. After the shave was over I finished my nightly routine off with the Beard Balm from Salt and Sun Beard Company. The outcome was the same every time. There really is no difference between the four balms that I tried regarding functionality and outcome. All four Beard Balms came packaged in a 1 oz. aluminum tin with a lid that pops on/off. The balm while resting inside the tin has a hard consistency that will change once applied to your skin.

I found the easiest way for me to apply the balm to my skin is first run my finger across the surface applying slight pressure to build the balm up on my finger. Then I rub the Balm that was on my finger into the palm of my hands, your body heat will warm the balm up turning it from hard to soft and easy to rub into the skin of my Dome and face. Remember a little goes a long way once this balm softens up. It will take a couple of times to get it right but once you do you will like their balm even more! The Balm soaked into my skin quickly without any greasy residue left behind. The skin on my Dome and face felt soft and smooth and had a slight shine to it. The next day my skin had a softer supple feel that lasted all day long. Softer and more supple skin means a more comfortable shave every time. How can you argue with that?

What are my final thoughts on the Beard Oil and Beard Balm from Salt and Sun Beard Company. A great product for your beard, shave routine and skin care regimen. The beard products from Salt and Sun Beard Company can perform well in all three areas, as a beard product they are designed to keep the whiskers of your beard and mustache soft and flowing. As a shaving product the Oil and Balm provides a smooth surface for your razor to glide across your skin while the balm keeps your skin well hydrated and supple for maximum comfort after every shave. As a skin care regimen product the Salt and Sun Beard products contain so many oils and butters that have many benefits for your skin it would be hard to find a reason not to try these beard products for your self. Whether you use these products as beard care or as a shaving product one thing is for certain. The Salt and Sun Beard Company products provide great skin care no matter what you use them for.
