A great stand alone product!
I use a lot of pre shave oil and after-shave as well. I’m pretty big on pre and post prep shave routines. I think the right products add value to each shave and over a length of time a good pre and post prep shave routine will also add value to your skin care regimen as well. Pre-shave oil is a pretty popular item that is used in conjunction with a shaving cream or soap. Shaving oil should not be used to make up for any short comings of your shaving soap or cream. Shaving oil should be used to increase the slickness of your shave while providing your skin with extra vitamins and nutrients. A good percentage of shaving oils also contain natural ingredients that help protect the layer of water content found deep within your skin. This protection of hydration also helps increase the suppleness and elasticity of your skin. Shaving is hard on your skin no matter what products you use. Even the so-called best razors can be hard on your skin. Increased suppleness and elasticity of your skin helps combat against the harshness of shaving on an every day basis.
There are a certain number of shave oils that claim to be a standalone product for shaving. They claim that their shaving oil is all you need for a smooth shave from start to finish. I have tried a couple of these products and I will say this. I like the shave oil in combination with a shave soap or cream but not as a standalone product. I recently had a chance to try the Village Barber luxurious shave oil and after shave balm. My thoughts about a shave oil as a standalone product changed for the better after using the Village Barber shave oil and after shave balm.
The shave oil really is a stand alone product!
I had a chance to try the Village Barber shave oil as a stand alone shave product. The Village Barber shave oil is thick in consistency that cotes your Dome and face with a nice layer of oil that helps soften your skin and provide your razor with a slickened surface that allows your razor to glide effortlessly across the skin on your Dome and face. The thick consistency of the Village Barber shave oil allows your razor to glide across your skin without irritation through razor burn or cuts and nicks. You feel the pressure of the razor but not the blade itself shaving away all of that unwanted hair.
It only takes ten to fifteen drops of oil to coat my Dome and face for a fantastic shave. After rubbing the shave oil into my Dome before my nightly shave. My skin felt smooth and moisturized. I could feel the layer of shave oil but it did not feel heavy or have a greasy residue. It felt warm and relaxing. I felt the pressure of my razor and not the DE razor blade itself running across my Dome. The village Barber shave oil provided a very close shave for my Dome and face. After rinsing off, my skin felt soft and smooth.
The Village Barber shave oil comes in a clear 3.39 fl oz. plastic bottle. The push to open cap located on the top of the bottle allows drops of oil when the bottle is squeezed. The Village Barber After Shave balm is a perfect ending to a perfect shave!
After my shave with the Village Barber shave oil was done I wanted to end my nightly routine with the Village Barber shaving balm. This shave balm comes packaged in a 4.23 fl oz. plastic tube that has a dropper style disbursement insert in the neck of the bottle located at the top of the tube. A gold-colored cap screws on/off to keep dirt from getting into the shave balm. I squeezed a couple drops of this thickened consistency after shave balm into my hand and started applying it to my Dome. The after shave balm spread evenly and consistently across my Dome and face. Even though the After Shave balm from the Village Barber is thick it felt very light on my skin and dried quickly leaving behind no greasy residue, nor did my skin feel tacky or sticky after the shaving balm finished soaking into the skin. The shaving balm was soothing and cooled my skin off after my nightly shave. I knew right away that I loved this product.
